New State and Deputy Ministers sworn in

President’s Media Unit sent out a press release a short while ago, stating that the appointments of Nimal Lansa as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Christian Affairs and Arundika Fernando as Deputy Minister Home Affairs had been swapped.

However they have not stated a reason for this portfolio exchange. Nimal Lansa will now be the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs and Arundika Fernando will be the Deputy the Ministry of Tourism and Christian Affairs.

Political commentators observe that this could be the beginning of a new trend where ministers and deputy ministers can exchange portfolios by agreement.
