Does Google Need SEO to Improve its Own Ranking?

According to a recent job posting on Google Career, Google is hiring a ‘Program Manager, Search Engine Optimization’.

The job post stated that Google is looking for someone to ‘advise, collaborate with, and synthesize feedback from Marketing, Product and Engineering partners to push for technical SEO best practices’. It also states that the person should ‘keep pace with SEO, search engine and internet marketing industry trends and developments and report changes as needed.’

Looks like Google is no different when it comes to SEO management, although it is common knowledge that the SEO is generated by Google itself.

One possible reason why Google is optimising SEO could be to showcase its own websites prominently on the search engine.

But, the question is, why is Google suddenly interested in bringing organic traffic to its own websites?

Having an SEO optimization on all its sites, Google will always be on top on any given topic. This will ensure that Google’s own sites show up in the search results, thus building their organic traffic.
