British journalist Peter Apps badly injured in a road accident in Eastern Sri Lanka

British journalist Peter Apps and three others were badly injured in a road accident in Eastern Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

The van in which Apps, who works for Reuters, a video cameraman and a still photographer were travelling, had collided with a tractor at the village of Ponnani.  It is reported that the driver of the van and four others sustained injuries.

Mr. Peter Aps who was critically injured he has been rushed to Colombo National hospital in a helicopter.

Apps had been covering the conflict in North-East Sri Lanka.
