The following is a timeline of attacks and failed attempts carried out by the LTTE that can be considered terrorism. I condemn killing of innocent people by suicide bombing and otherways. Life is precious. It is a luck to be born in beautiful managerial country to see the naturial beauty of God and to live in harmony with it. WE have the paradise. Why are we fighting with each other instead enjoying our lives by being the best in the world? Bad childhood or unrealistic expections makes people to support suidide bombers. We have to inform people that human life in Srilana is as good as anywhere else in the world if we start to like ourselves and our neighbours and to do the best for ourselves with help of the Government and the world.

All the things now added to the history. Sri Lanka is one of the best islands in the world. I vicited it so many times. but the LTTE done very bad job by make the innocent in to trap and make thir graves. Badly treated their own people. But it is obseved that all the LTTE MEMBERS lived very well not innocent tamils.
Please let the people do their own not from guns. Please stop killing people.

Peace is a luxury at this stagee i hope they get it. Wow well atleast thamilian admits hes racist lol.
Nevertheless the idea of a separate state and or a separate country isnt economically feasable in a country that is already quite quite poor. And the formation of it really isnt fair to those in a lower socio economic standard ( poorer poeple) who will only be finacially worse off.
I am not saying i know how to fix it i dont even know how sinhalese or tamil people got to the island but prehaps now its time to develope a new sense of “nationalism” one that incoorporates all a multicultural view with laws enforcing it and strong anti descrimmination acts. Granted this works very well in places like australia but then colour is the real difference in these countries. Still with a renewed view on the what it means to be a sri lankan i think steps can be taken to achieve more and mroe piece. This idea might seem pathetic and even trivial but its the small changes in a persons mindset that influence their greater perceptions
Stoping this civil war is in the hands of the sri lankan government. Negotiate again, have more peace talks, give the tamils what they deserve. A peaceful, beautiful sri lanka is what i’d like to return to.
If nothing else, this war is hurting the economy severely. The pearl of the orient is now a island to be feared and is longer looked as a travelling destination.
I don’t care who’s wrong and who’s right, i vote for peace, to stop this war at all costs.
If you really want to do the right thing, stop this war, even if it means sacrificing srilankan ego to give tamils what the deserve. They deserve equal oppourtunity.

The LTTE is definetly fighting for the right reasons, but their desperation has lead them to doing wrong things in order to get what they deserve, what person wouldn’t after surviving all the hardships that tamils had been put through over the years?
If the government actually thought logically, it would realise that it would be gaining more from creating peace with the tamils then continuing on with this civil war.

I am racist but, I wasn’t like that before. Have you heard some of the comments by the monks, JVP and many of the people in power from the day of independence to present? Tamils will never be granted a fair deal by the Sinhalese who believe in their mythical beginning. The island was the most prosperous place in Asia until the Sinhalese started absolute domination of the government. Sinhalese cannot even understand the ethnic problem; instead they put all the blame on LTTE. Like Mano Ganesan said, the ethnic problem created the LTTE, not the other way around. LTTE is never going to be eliminated and by killing more Tamils you are only creating a new breed of LTTE supporters. Tamil Nationalism is a ticking time bomb and if it explodes; India will seriously get hurt and Sinhalese will die in the explosion.
I do admit there are some great Sinhalese; it’s a shame that their voices are not heard loud enough. Tamils and Sinhalese living in a united Sri Lanka is only a dream. What guarantees that with in a united Sri Lanka another 1983 won’t take place?
Thamilan, there is no guarantee. Only if Colombo Sinhalese shake of their apathy & protest against any movement or group that proposes Sinhala colonisation of the north, along with some regional devolution of power scheme, there may be peace. Muslims who were wrongly driven out by LTTE must be allowed back and legitimate Sinhala businesses re-established. It’s when we hear of poor Tamil farmers being pushed out by security forces or government armed thugs, this leads to riots or ethnic militia groups being formed.
Thing I hope to see are:
Freedom of the press
Minority ethnic representation in Police services based on local population
Set long term goals (even a 20 year plan) for military recruitment to represent ethnic percentage
Sensitivity training for Police & Military
Hate speech and hate crime laws
Rape and Sex Assault prosecution (the record is very poor)
The diaspora are not prolonging the conflict, it’s the GoSL’s failure to enact reconciliation measures that prolongs ethnic conflict. How can there be peace if you hide the truth, banish journalists and resist international oversight. Peace cannot be built on lies.

At some point after IDP’s have been freed, dialogue about flag reform might also be a good idea. As a diaspora Tamil, I am cynical about the GoSL flag’s true meaning and fear those Tamils in the north will share my view. Doesn’t the present flag look like it’s the Kandyan flag marching to conquer Hindu’s & Muslims? When the design of the flag was adopted by the then UNP Government in 1951, a progressive Sinhalese politician, Dr. N.M. Perera, highlighted its derogative implications; he condemned the flag as a “fraud…perpetrated on the minorities. They [Sinhalese] are going to have the Lion Flag and these stripes are for the outcasts.” The true intent of the flag is to show the divide between Sinhalese jatiya and the foreign inferior Tamil/Muslim parayo. Perhaps just integrating a small green crescent moon for Muslims & small orange hourglass shaped drum depicted in statues of Hindu god Shiva outside of the path of the lion’s sword would be a welcome reconciliation concession and help dispel bitterness. The drum beat calls into being the renewal of the world and renewal is what Sri Lanka desperately needs.

End of Sinhalese Nationlism or the Sinhalese Race?
The book of Mahavamsa is a work of an idiot. The Sinhalese failure to look beyond that book will bring the total destruction of the whole race. Even the book says that the so called Sinhalese Kings continuously married bride from the Pandiyan Empire in order keep alliance. This makes the so called Sinhalese King more part of the Dravidian blood line. Tamils had the first naval empire of the Indian subcontinent and its laughable that the Sinhalese claim to be on the island before the Tamils. LTTE is just asking for the rights of the Tamil and if they wanted to just to be a terrorist group they would have killed the Sinhalese in Millions by now. LTTE would have never existed if they did not have a reason and would have never been able to fight an outnumbered Army that is well financed for almost 3 decades (also taking on the Indian Army in the middle). When Indians took up arms against the British they were called trouble makers (now it is defined as terrorists). When Blacks demanded their rights from the White South African Government they were also called terrorists. Tamil Nationalism is a very minimum goal of LTTE and the rights of the Tamils of Elam is their main goal. If LTTE fails, the Sinhalese Government will definitely wipe out the Tamils of Elam and that would make Tamil Nationalism to reemerge. Tamil Nadu will for sure wipe the Island of Lanka clean of the Sinhalese if that ever happens. Tamil Nadu buried the Tamil Nationalism for the union of India, if the Central Government of India fails to bring a solution that would be acceptable by Elam Tamils then for sure the break up of Tamil Nadu from the Indian Union is a fact (by force or by referendum). LTTE made a huge mistake by not claiming the whole Island and not labeling Sinhalese as foreigners. The Tamils existence is so rooted into the Island that it cannot be even traced back, while the Sinhalese existence beings with an idiot and his followers being banished from the Bengal. The burning of the Jaffna library which housed scripts and 10,000 years of Tamil history is for sure one of the greatest lost to the Tamils. For sure the two light Air Planes are nothing compared to the Sri Lankan Air Force, but for sure it was enough to make the Sri Lankan Government tremble. The same was said when the Tigers Naval unit emerged and now they proved to be a successful fighting force. If the LTTE gains their goal it is win, win and win situation (for the Tamils, Sinhalese and Indians). If LTTE fails it will be a disaster for the Indian Union and the entire Sinhalese race. Two and a half million Tamils against the sixteen million Sinhalese has only caused the total destruction of the Sinhalese State (bad image on the world stage, ruined economy that is running on donations from the western powers). Seventy million Tamils against the sixteen million Sinhalese will only lead to the extinction of the Sinhalese Race. Tamil Nationalism is far more extreme then the Sinhalese Nationalism.
