Doom and gloom awaiting the country with the majority of trade Unions representing the entire Public sector preparing for a massive showdown by launching a token general strike on the 10th of July, due to the Govt.’s abysmal failure to meet their demands.
The unions disdainfully tossed overboard the President’s offer of a meager monthly salary hike of Rs. 1000.00 when the Unions have demanded Rs.5000.00 among other benefits to square up the high cost of living, massive price hikes and huge economic burdens imposed by the Govt.
The National Trade Union Centre comprising 366 Public and Private sector Trade Unions have also made the demands.
