Music is a gift of God and at least a bit of it remains in everyone in several forms. Yet it depends on one’s individual talent to identify it, practise it and to give the world an assortment of enjoyment through it. It is rarely that one gets the talent of creating music which is relatively the most difficult part which is time consuming as musicians are never satisfied with what they come out with.

byogaBenjamin Yoga is a musician with inborn talents in composing new music/melodies. Yesterday he launched his first Sinhala music album ‘Ooh Gana, at the H.N.B towers in Colombo. He has composed 12 songs for 12 popular artistes including T.M Jayaratne, Amarasiri Peris, Sohan Weerasinge, Edward Jayakody.

The lyric writers include Hemasiri Halpita, Ananda Hewarinthege. Wasanth Kumara Kobawaka, Rev.Pathagama Ganisara Thera, Rev.Katawella Buddhasiri Thera and. Shanaka Maliyadda

The album will be marketed in today’s leading web based technology. This will be the first ever Sinhala album released exclusively online. Ceylinco Internet Services will be handling the marketing and distribution of this album through their innovative www.etickets.lk website.

Benjamin composed his first song to a Tamil tele film produced in Sri Lanka and there on composed jingles to almost all TV and radio stations in the country. He had released a Tamil music album titled ‘Kanal Neer’ with the participation of local singers. When asked what made him enter the Sinhalese music industry, he proudly said that it was Rev.Pathegam Ganisara Thera who gave the idea of applying his new melodies to Sinhala musicians.

The album includes a wide range including Reggae, classical and baila type music.

Benjamin is a qualified optometrist by profession; doing his own practising. Music is only his hobby for which he spends a lot of time. He partly qualified at the London Trinity College of Music. He is also involved in community service projects, having served as the president of the Rotoract club of Colombo up town.
